The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources announced the resumption of the export of red sand (sand dunes) from the approved mining complex designated for sand extraction in Gonan, Eastern Region, as the first phase of a gradual process aimed at resuming the export of sand and gravel from several approved mining complexes.

The ministry explained that the resumption of the export of red sand (sand dunes) and gravel (crusher materials) came after completing technical and environmental studies with the relevant government authorities, holding several meetings and workshops with investors, and developing guidelines, regulations, and procedures for export requests.

The ministry clarified that the process of selecting mining complexes for the resumption of basic raw material exports for construction materials was based on several criteria, including the proximity of these complexes to border crossings, coordination with relevant government authorities, and the completion of the development of targeted mining complexes with the necessary capabilities to implement monitoring and compliance operations.

The ministry stated that the process of applying for export permits is available to investors holding exploitation licenses within the mining complex in Gonan, Eastern Region, through the Mining Platform. Additionally, the export from other targeted mining complexes will be gradually resumed after completing the necessary procedures and studies.
