
The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has designated a site for salt ore in Al-Qasab Center, in the Al-Shuqayra Governorate of the Riyadh region, covering an area of 33.15 square kilometers as a mining cluster for mining activities.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Jaraah bin Mohammed Al-Jarah, stated that the ministry's decision highlights its commitment to preserving mining sites and using them for their designated purposes, while protecting them from unauthorized activities, in accordance with Article (2) of the system, without infringing upon any legally established private property rights issued prior to this decision.
Al-Jarah clarified that the ministry aims to regulate the mining sector, enhance its transparency, and increase investor confidence in it, in addition to achieving sustainability for the sector through attention to environmental conservation, health, and occupational safety, as well as encouraging local communities to participate in the growth of the mining sector in line with the mining investment system.
The ministry also seeks to develop the areas surrounding mining locations by employing local residents in mining projects, increasing the proportion of local market purchases, establishing effective communication plans in the project's surrounding area, and adhering to necessary environmental regulations to preserve mining activity sites and surrounding communities, including site rehabilitation and closure for utilized mining sites.
