
The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, represented by the Mining Regulatory Agency, conducted 860 regulatory inspections on various mining sites across the Kingdom during May.
It issued 157 penalties against facilities violating the mining investment law, including 84 penalties for the exploitation of gravel, 55 penalties for the exploitation of sand and gravel, 7 penalties for exploiting fill materials, 6 penalties for exploiting granite, 2 penalties for exploiting pozzolan, and one penalty each for the exploitation of gypsum, kaolin, and salt.
The Ministry's spokesperson, Jarraah bin Mohammed Al-Jarraah, explained that the highest percentage of violations occurred in the Asir region, with 40 penalties, followed by the Makkah region with 29 penalties, the Eastern region with 23 penalties, the Riyadh region with 16 penalties, and the Jazan and Najran regions, each with 12 penalties.
The Madinah region had 10 penalties, while the Al-Baha region recorded 5 penalties, Hail 4 penalties, and Qassim 3 penalties. There was one penalty each in the Tabuk, Al-Jouf, and Northern Borders regions.
